Hello to all, and thank you for visiting our TRYC Website! I am truly honoured to be a part of such a unique club, so rich in history – not only geographically speaking, but the history of the club itself and the people that have made it what it is today. Following in the footsteps of Past Commodore Rob Gray will be a challenge that I’m looking forward to meeting. I plan to keep alive his vision of TRYC being a Club, and not a Marina. ... Going to some yacht clubs might be comparable to going to a 5 star resort – all the best services and amenities to make you feel like royalty. Others are impersonal rows of docks, where you pay to store your boat. The best way to describe the TRYC experience is to compare it to visiting a much-loved family cottage for the weekend: Feel the stress rolling off your shoulders as you leave the city and begin driving on a scenic winding road that brings you through fields and along the Thames. The drive is quick enough that there’s still plenty of daylight, but just long enough to make you feel like you’re getting away from it all. Once you show up, you smile and chat with your neighbours. You might chop some wood for the evening fire, play a game of bocce, go for a sail or swim – whatever you do, it’s at your leisure, and you’re surrounded by neighbours that are happy to help you fix something on your boat, or around the club, or at least brainstorm on how it could be done. And although there are no waiters or servants to make you feel like royalty, when you’re sitting around the campfire at sunset, toasting marshmallows and laughing with friends, watching one of the best views on Lake St. Clair, you do indeed feel like a king. ... So, come visit, or stay! If you’re from a reciprocal club, come spend a weekend with us – have a TRYC experience! And if you’re new into boating and are looking for a club to join, please give us a call or stop in. We’d be more than happy to show you around and answer any questions you’ve got. There’s always room for more in our family! To new AND existing members: Most weekends you’ll find my husband Dave and I, and our chocolate lab, Bean, either around the club or on Centre Dock in our 30 ft. Newport "Sails Call". Please stop in to say ‘hi’ and share a beverage with us. I’d love for each club member to visit our boat at least once this season, and to talk freely about any ideas you have about improving the club, or anything that’s on your mind. I’m looking forward to sharing a great boating season with you all! Thanks again for visiting our website – come back often, as we’re always updating our newsletter, pictures, etc., and please join our ‘Forum’, and come out to our planned events that you’ll find under the “Events” tab. Happy boating, everyone! . Jennifer Smith This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it |
